HOW THEY MET

Abby + Devon are from the same hometown of Bloomington Normal, but they met in college through mutual friends. Devon claims it was when Abby DMd him on, but she thinks differently. They dated throughout college and did a bit of long distance until Abby joined Devon at Mizzou. After graduation they did long distance again for a few years before moving to Chicago. During the summer of 2020, they moved into their first place together, and in May of 2022 Devon proposed and held a surprise party afterwards at one of their favorite breweries with their closest friends and family. Abby says it was the best day!!

THE SESSION

Let me start off by saying Abby + Devon are the kind of people you want to spend time around. It was truly such a treat to get to witness their love + laughs. In their questionnaire I sent them Abby describes Devon as being thoughtful and Devon days that Abby is fun, compassionate and empathetic and I could not agree more with both of them. I seriously adore these two!

We started their session at The Rookery Building in Chicago. The Rookery is a stunning building in downtown Chicago. The start of the location is the staircases, they are absolutely gorgeous. We took full advantage of those stunning staircases and the beautiful architecture of this building.

The second location that they chose was one that was special to them. The Constellation Sculpture in Chicago, also known as the place where they got engaged. They spent several minutes looking at the water and talking while Devon calmed his nerves to get down on one knee. I love when couples choose locations that are sentimental to them for their engagement sessions. It makes the session and photos all the more special. About half way through our time at the second location Abby shared with me that they looked at the water and talked for at least 10 minutes before the proposal and then asked if I could capture them looking out at the water together like they had on that day. I of course loved the idea and was more than happy to capture such an intentional and thoughtful photo for them. I am so excited to celebrate them and capture their day in June of this year!
