One of the most stunning Chicago elopements from this year was Jasmin + Kameron’s day – and the photos truly show how much fun they were to be around and the true love that they have for each other. Their vibes were immaculate and it was such an honor to be able to capture their elopement in the city. In the weeks leading up to their elopement session, Jasmin and I sent so many voice memos back and forth to each other to talk about all the things they wanted out of their day. We also learned about each others zodiacs and formed a friendship talk about all things books, kindles, zodiacs, our families, the gym, etc. So thankful for the amazing people and friends this career has brought into my life. I am so thankful for the trust they had in me to document such a special day.
We started out their session at Fourth Presbyterian Church, which is one of my favorite places to shoot in the city – the iconic gothic revival style of architecture is always makes for the most dreamy, whimsical vibes especially with the fountain in the middle of the courtyard and the ivy growing up the walls. The church is the second oldest building on Michigan Ave, built in 1871, and it is one of the most beautiful historic locations in the area. We begun in the courtyard area, where we took some photos of the two of them running around, kissing, and taking some candid shots with Jasmin’s veil.. the wind was a paid actor this day – I am forever obsessed with their veil photos!
A little fun fact about Jasmin + Kameron: they actually live in Florida and came to Chicago to elope with just the two of them. This day in Chicago was one of the chilliest days of the week and they truly braved the wind for these photos and absolutely served. We went outside for some detail photos of their rings and more of some of the most romantic photos – these turned out so beautiful.
Next, we went inside to take some photos. I actually hadn’t taken photos inside before this day, but it is an absolutely stunning building with stained glass and gorgeous ceilings. I brought out the flash for these photos and I think they turned out so vibey and was the perfect contrast to the courtyard photos we took for the first hour!! The dark and moody environment in the church was everything and made the focus truly be on Jasmin and Kameron.
We spent most of the time getting the perfect photos in and around the church, then we headed to their hotel where we captured the most stunning photos of the two of them. When we walked in, they had the cutest balloons set up all over the bed and in the room. Some of them were covered with pearls and all of them were a beautiful ivory color – matching Jasmin’s dress and Kameron’s dress shirt perfectly.
Let me just say: we got my absolute favorite photos of them in front of the hotel mirror. They were so incredibly sexy and intimate and I am so obsessed to this day. We also went out in the hotel hallway to take some vibey blurry running photos – some of my favorites to add into the gallery.
Going back into the hotel room, Jasmin and Kameron had a beautiful cake made for their day as well as some wine glasses to eat the cake out of. This is one of my favorite ideas when it comes to bringing “props” to the session – it is one of the most romantic and personal moments between the couple and can produce some of the most organic, fun, silly moments. Their cake matched perfectly with her wedding dress, her slip dress, his dress shirt, the balloons, and overall their whole vibe of the day. Everything was so thought out and purposeful and I am so honored to have been able to capture this day for them.
Before we move on to the elopement part of the day, let’s take a moment to obsess over Jasmin’s bridal photos – these were everything.
The City Hall Building in Downtown Chicago is one of the most beautiful buildings in the area, with stunning wall sculptures all around and beautiful architecture making the perfect backdrop for photos. We were able to capture the infamous city hall sign on the side of the building, the pretty gold doors, as well as a little bit of the inside before they were off to get married.
Jasmin and Kameron were truly one of the most fun couples to spend the day with and these photos turned out just as beautiful as they are. They are the reason why I talk about thinking about eloping so much – making the day about each other and having fun running around the city together creates not on the best photos but the most memorable experience that is focused on you two and your love and connection. This Chicago elopement was so beautiful and I cannot wait to continue to capture more of these days purely surrounding the couple!
