19 Most Romantic Chicago Elopement Locations

I had a blast photographing a southern IL elopement this summer and want to capture more elopements! I seriously love elopements so much because they are so intimate and focused on the two of you. I just moved to Chicago and thought what better way to kick off moving here and getting into more elopements than showing you some of the best Chicago elopement locations! If you’re starting to think about eloping as a possible choice for YOU, I am here to help you plan your day, starting NOW! Here are some of my favorite spots in the city!

Indoor venues

  1. Greenhouse Loft

If you know me you know that I am all about being as green as possible as well as recycling. One of the best things about this venue is that it’s as sustainable as it can get. They’re a part of the Green Wedding Alliance, as well as have an entire page dedicated to all the ways they’re doing their part to stay green. This 3,600 sq foot space is completely customizable, and offers a clean/simple backdrop so you can tailor it to the style of your elopement . The ceilings are 16 ft tall, and you have floor to ceiling windows for tons of beautiful Chicago natural light! Which I LOVE! When you have your Chicago elopement here at the Greenhouse Loft, you get exclusive access to the indoor space, the outdoor sky garden, and the art gallery space (perfect for cocktail hour if you’re having one). There is also a green room/wedding party space that can be used as a getting ready suite, with tons of natural light so you can get stunning pre-elopement photos if you choose to prep here at the venue. Although this venue is pretty large, they can create an intimate setting for groups as small as 25 people.

  2. Rockwell on the River

Just because you’re eloping, doesn’t mean you can’t have a super cool, fun experience with your guests. This venue has so many features/amenities that would make your elopement day/weekend one of a kind! Rockwell has an onsite brewery, distillery, and roaster so you can design your own beverages for your and your guests. It’s located on the scenic North Branch of the Chicago River. As for the actual style of the venue, they’ve got exposed brick, tons of natural light, skylights, and high lofted double bow truss ceilings. The exposed brick and skylights would have me sold, personally! There’s also a Marina onsite, and you and your boo can rent a boat and view the beauty of Chicago from right on the river. Can you image the romantic photos we could get!

  3. Chez Wedding Venue

This venue is definitely on the more modern/contemporary side compared to the previous venues! White brick walls, white pillars throughout the space, and glass staircases decorate this venue. There’s a stunning glass chandelier near the entrance that will take you and your guests’ breath away right when they walk in. 5,000 sq ft of loft space on the Mezzanine level of the building. If you book this venue, you are required to book catering services (if applicable) through their preferred list of caterers. There is an onsite private suite for getting ready. If you haven’t looked at their site to see that beautiful glass staircase, click the venue name above!

  4. Row 24

If you’re wanting a 1920’s themed elopement with a twist, this would be the perfect venue for you! Timeless, elegant, and vintage are the words used to describe this venue. This building is actually a historical landmark in Chicago, so you’re feeling the years of rich history if you choose to elope here. That also accounts for the authentic, vintage feel of the space. This is a family owned venue as well! Which I love so so much. The wife owns a bridal beauty agency called Pin Me Up that has won awards from The Knot since 2014. Collectively, the husband and wife duo have over 20 years of hospitality experience which means you will be well taken care of here. On the first floor (that used to be an automobile showroom), you have 2,400 square feet. If you’re having an elopement here, the mezzanine level would be perfect! It’s an 800 ft space that overlooks the first floor. There’s also a greenery wall that would be the perfect spot for a neon sign if that’s something you want to include in your elopement.

Outdoor Venues

  1. La Pergola at Galleria Marchetti

Galleria Marchetti is a downtown Chicago wedding venue with international decor and inspiration. They have two different venues, La Pergola & The Pavillion. La Pergola is more suited for intimate weddings & elopements. La Pergola is a European meets Moroccan inspired venue that’s super unique compared to other downtown Chicago venues. Technically this is an indoor venue, but it’s completely glass and the ceilings can be retracted for an indoor/outdoor style space! How freaking cool! You also have complete use of The Gardens when you book La Pergola, where you can hold your ceremony and have cocktail hour. Then if you’re having a seated dinner, you can head “inside”!

  2. Outdoor Courtyard at Colvin House

Colvin House is also apart of the Green Wedding Alliance, meaning they’re dedicated to being as green and sustainable as possible. This mansion was built in 1909, and became a Chicago landmark in 1994 so no exterior alterations can be made and the building can never be demolished, how freaking cool! The interior of the house was renovated in the 1920s and totally reflects the style of that time period! When you rent out The Colvin House for your elopement, you get access to the entire 1st floor as well as the courtyard. There is a getting ready suite on the 3rd floor that you can also utilize if you want to get ready onsite, it overlooks Lake Michigan so would be amazing for photos!

  3. Artifact Events

This stunning venue is located in one of Chicago’s most historic neighborhoods; Ravenswood. The Courtyard has beautiful white pillars and brick walls that would make for such a stunning backdrop for your ceremony. They don’t have a complete getting ready suite, but they do have suites on both sides of the venue where you can store personal things and have hair/makeup touch-ups throughout the day. If you’re going to hire a caterer, you must go through their preferred list. If you wanted to have an indoor reception, there are four different spaces at this venue, North First Floor, North Second Floor,  South First Floor, and South Second Floor.

  4. Big Delicious Planet

Big Delicious Planet is actually a catering company for weddings and events! They have an urban farm so they grow all of their own crops/ingredients onsite which I LOVE! You may be wondering why a caterer is on this list BUT, they now host elopements and intimate weddings on the urban farm! It’s truly a hidden gem of Chicago, because there’s not many venues quite like this one! When you and your guests enter the farm, you’ll walk through their garden beds leading right up the farm table underneath the pergola. You can technically have your ceremony anywhere at Big Delicious Planet, but most couples choose to have it right against the Ivy Wall because of how picturesque it is. If you know me, you know I am a sucker for an ivy wall! Before and after your elopement, you and your guests are more than welcome to roam the farm/gardens to your heart’s desire! They have a specified Intimate Wedding Package, which includes 3 hours of event time, a team of wedding producers to help you coordinate, and a four course farm-to-table meal. Seriously adore this option for an elopement or intimate wedding.

Outdoor locations

  1. 63rd St. Beach

If you follow the link by clicking the beach name above there’s not a ton of info on it. This beach is on the list because it’s one of the most private ones in Chicago, and there’s also a venue called 63rd St. Beach House that you can rent out for your elopement if you want! There are a ton of really pretty, yet popular beaches in Chicago. If you’re eloping and want privacy for you and your guests this may be the perfect beach for you. Other beaches can get pretty busy and hectic. As for the 63rd St. Beach House, there’s a little bit of info we can include for that! It’s available from June through September, so perfect for a summer elopement in Chicago. It literally sits right on the sands of Lake Michigan, so you can have your ceremony on the water and then head back to the house for your reception, how dreamy!

  2. Garfield Park/Observatory

Garfield Park Conservatory is one of the world’s largest gardens under glass! It is a multi-room conservatory, with separate spaces for weddings/events so you’ll have privacy from the general public. I am obsessed! Other than the physical beauty of the plants, moss, and greenery, the conservatory naturally smells AMAZING with all the fragrances from the flowers. They have two different outdoor venue spaces to choose from; Artist’s Garden and Blue Stone Patio. For smaller events, Artist’s Garden is a little bit more intimate so this would be perfect for an elopement. If you love plants, flowers and gardens this is the spot for you!

  3. Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool at Lincoln Park

Fun fact: Lincoln Park Conservancy was founded in in 1984 and actively restores and upkeeps parks around Chicago. The Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool was designed in the 1930s, but was restored from 1998-2002 by the conservancy from years of erosion and damage. You can hold your elopement or intimate wedding here during the months of May through October. Lincoln Park is a site in itself, with manicured gardens, an indoor botanical garden, tons of lakefront green space, and gorgeous city views. There is also a lakefront trail, a nature museum, a conservatory, a free zoo, a beach, a boardwalk, and more! So you’ll have plenty of things to before and after your elopement at the lily pool!

Elopement locations with city views

  1. Skyline Loft

This venue… is to die for. Located on the top floor of the Bridgeport Art Center with panoramic views of the Chicago skyline. This venue has a total of 18,000 square feet, but can be sectioned off depending on how many guests you’re having! We love a customizable space. There are exposed brick walls and 15 foot wood beam ceilings, and the Skyline Loft can be totally transformed depending on the theme/color palette of your elopement or wedding. On the ground level of the Bridgeport Art Center, you have the Sculpture Garden that can serve as an indoor or outdoor venue as well. It truly is such a stunning space.

  2. City View Loft

This is another venue that is to die for! The 13 foot timber ceilings, completely open floor plan, and of course skyline views are seriously stunning. Due to the large (almost) floor to ceiling windows, sunlight floods this space during the day which is so good if you want the natural light without being outdoors! If you love this space but want something slightly different, the first floor is home to Kitchen Chicago. You can hold your ceremony at Kitchen Chicago and then your reception upstairs at City View Loft! They also have an open vendor policy, as long as all vendors have the proper licenses/insurance you can use whoever you’d like.

  3. J. Parker

If you are looking for a beautiful rooftop venue, you will want to check this one out. J. Parker sits right above Hotel Lincoln with views of the skyline and of Lake Michigan. You can also buy out the Atrium for your elopement, or you can buy out the entire rooftop for the utmost privacy. Just in case there’s inclement weather, the outdoor space has a completely retractable glass roof to keep you and your guests dry and warm, and it’s also stunning! If you don’t wanna get wild and crazy and buy out the entire atrium or rooftop, you can make a semi-private group reservation for up to 60 people to celebrate your elopement! Of course if you elope here there is a food & beverage minimum since this is a restaurant, and the food is presented reception style, they don’t do seated dinners. You can either choose a bar package for your guests if you want to serve alcohol or you can offer a consumption bar (no cash bars here).

  4. Hyatt Regency Chicago

Fun fact: this is the largest hotel in downtown Chicago! They have a street level ballroom (the only one in Chicago) that has 19 ft floor to ceiling windows, which gives you city views. From that ballroom, you can see city lights, the downtown skyline, the Chicago River, Tribune Tower, and the iconic Wrigley Building. There’s also an outdoor terrace (Crystal Terrace) that connects to the Crystal Ballroom that’s perfect for outdoor photos with views of Navy Pier’s firework show! You can also entertain on the Crystal Terrace! It’s an extension of the ballroom, so you can have your elopement out there with your guests if you’d prefer that instead. The interior of the ballroom is decorated with earthy tones and modern contemporary sculptural glass lighting. There are three other indoor spaces to choose from at Hyatt Regency Chicago, but they don’t offer city views.

  5. Adler Planetarium

Adler Planetarium actually has a few beautiful elopement spaces! The ones with city views are The Solarium (indoor) and the Skyline Terrace (outdoor). The Solarium has floor to ceiling windows that overlook Lake Michigan and of course downtown Chicago, it’s absolutely stunning. The windows are actually angled so it’s a sort of dome shape instead of traditional linear windows, which adds a unique aspect to the space. The Skyline Terrace is perfect for intimate ceremonies/gatherings and has fantastic gorgeous views. Adler has some super cool shows that you can add on for your elopement as well. This may not be a venue you would think about for your wedding or elopement but trust me, this is seriously such a stunning location that you should most definitely consider!

  1. Royal Mansion on Fox River

This mansion is SO beautiful! Perfect for intimate elopements. If your guests are comfortable sharing beds, this Airbnb can sleep up to 10. Otherwise, they recommend having 5-6 guests in total. This location was built in 1848 and used to be an inn, now it’s a luxurious estate that serves as a vacation spot or elopement location. The mansion is 7,000 sq feet in total, lavishly decorated and exudes elegance. You can technically have up to 100 guests in attendance, but only a few to stay the night. Grand staircases, marble kitchen, skylights, tons of natural light, and just overall a very luxurious looking/feeling space!

  2. LOFT 606

This is a very open-style floor plan, with beds above the main space! Tons of natural light, exposed brick, and very industrial looking. This is a former factory turned into an airbnb for guests and events which is so neat. There are timber beamed ceilings, skylights throughout the space, a massive gourmet kitchen, and even an outdoor area. Could you image waking up the morning after your elopement and using the gourmet kitchen to make pancakes with your now spouse and getting the cutest photos of it all?! There’s enough space to sleep 20+ people (6 bedrooms, 9 beds, 2.5 baths). There is also a rooftop deck that you can use for cocktail hour if you’re having one, or if you want to have your intimate ceremony there. You have access to the full bar within the space as well! There are also add-ons that you can request: spa services, a private chef, and a bartender! Talk about full service!

  3. Downtown Mansion

This is a historic single family home in downtown Chicago, so it’s very centrally located. If you want to have a church ceremony, there are lots of options nearby! Of course as well as restaurants, shopping, etc. The space features 4 bedrooms, 6 beds, and 4.5 baths. The decor/style of this Airbnb is very historical looking, so not a neutral backdrop that you can customize! If you love the look of vintage, older things then this space is perfect. There’s not a ton of info for this one!! One of the bathrooms would be a BEAUTIFUL getting ready space though!

Phew, that was a LOT of info but hopefully helpful info! There are seriously SOOO many beautiful places to elope and get married in Chicago and I am so excited to begin exploring the city more. If you are excited and ready to talk more about booking/planning your wedding or elopement click here to fill out a contact form! I would absolutely LOVE to talk more and help you plan your elopement as well as capture it!
